Driving, Buses & Planes

Johannesburg is a large city, and if you’re new to it, can be overwhelming. We recommend the following tips to arrive safely and on schedule:

Driving From Afar

Get an early start and plot your trip with rest stops every two hours.

Travelling by Bus

Park Station in Johannesburg is the best place to disembark. It’s in the heart of the CBD and 11-13min from each of the recommended hotels.

Flying In

Fly to OR Tambo if you’re coming from another country. You may have a connecting flight, however, OR Tambo is accessible by highway, making for an easy trip to recommended hotels.

Getting around Johannesburg

Shuttles and Taxis

Hotel to Venue

Shuttles to and from the seminar venue and each hotel will be available (at an extra cost).

Exploring Johannesburg

If you want to explore Johannesburg, we recommend using Uber. All Uber drivers are vetted, and you can check the ratings your driver has received from other passengers before accepting a trip.

Download the Android app here and the iPhone app here.

Safety always

Be Aware of Your Surroundings

Johannesburg, like other parts of the world, is not immune to crime.

Practice situational awareness as you travel:

  • Be aware of people around you and your belongings at airports and bus stations.
  • Limit phone use while walking to avoid appearing lost or distracted.
  • When using ATMs, opt for well-lit areas in shopping malls or spaces that appear safe.
  • Shuttles will be available, so do not accept trip offers from taxis at the airport or bus station.
